FREEWAY CLOSURES

Freeway ClosuresFREEWAY CLOSURES

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will close the following lanes and ramps of the Golden State Freeway (I-5) as part of a $121 million improvement project to construct High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV or carpool) lanes in each direction along I-5 between SR-170 to Buena Vista Street. Closures are subject to change. Detours will be signed.

ABOUT THE PROJECT

Caltrans is building an HOV lane in each direction of I-5 between SR-170 and north of Buena Vista Street in Burbank.  This project will alleviate congestion, encourage carpooling, improve air quality, provide a smoother ride for motorists, and reduce traffic on city streets.  Work began in early 2011 and is expected to be completed in late 2014. Caltrans thanks motorists for their patience and understanding during construction.

New Carbon Monoxide Detector Law

NEW CALIFORNIA SAFETY LAW ALERT

“Carbon Monoxide poisoning is the leading cause of accidental poisoning in the United States according to the American Medical Association”

First Alert Safety

As Of January 1st 2011 for New Construction Only
All newly constructed dwelling and sleeping units with fuel-burning appliances or attached garages must install carbon monoxide alarms.

CO alarms must be installed outside of each sleeping area and in the immediate vicinity of the bedroom(s). This includes every level of a dwelling including the basement.

CO alarms must be hardwired with battery backup. When more than one alarm is installed they must be interconnected so that activation of one alarm activates all of the alarms in the individual unit.**

**Please contact your local building code official for more information on requirements for interconnection of alarms.
